TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – An earthquake measuring a magnitude of 4.0 rocked Sukabumi, West Java, on Tuesday night, February 28, at 20:11:48 native time, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Company (BMKG) has reported.
The company’s head of the quake and tsunami heart, Daryono, confirmed that Sukabumi and its neighborhood areas have been jolted by a tectonic quake. Based mostly on the evaluation, the epicenter was detected at 7.03 levels south latitude and 106.64 levels east longitude, or exactly on land at a distance of 11 kilometers southeast of Sukabumi Regency. Moreover, it was at a depth of three kilometers.
“It was a shallow quake triggered by the exercise of the Cimandiri Fault,” Daryono reported.
The shaking was felt in Sukabumi Metropolis areas, Pelabuhan Ratu, with an depth scale of II – III MMI. In Bogor, Lebak, and Bayah, the tremor was felt weaker at MMI degree II.
BMKG said that till now, there have been no experiences of injury to buildings on account of the quake. As of 20:30 WIB, the company didn’t detect any aftershock exercise.
